BOOK GROUPS: The June book is “Snowdrops’ by A. D. Milller. Set in Moscow, ‘Snowdrops’ is the name Russians give to the bodies which emerge into the light when the ice and snow thaw in the Spring. Some were drunks, some were homeless, some were murder victims. This is a novel of moral ambiguity, danger and uncertainty. The afternoon group will meet today, June 26 at 2 p.m., whilst the evening group will meet on June 30, 8 p.m. at Ashburnham Place. COFFEE MORNING: The next Coffee Morning is on Monday, July 6 & 20 in the Church Hall, Ashburnham Place 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. You are welcome to go along for a good friendly chat.

PUB QUIZ: The Ash Tree Inn are holding their next Pub quiz on July 7, at 7.45 p.m. Entry is £1/person and a set meal of £5 can be ordered. Please call them on 892104 for further details.

2M@1: 2m@1 are next meeting on Monday, July 13. The speaker in July will be Barbara Cornish, from Ashburnham and Penhurst Art Group, with ‘A Woman’s Lot...a selection of songs, poems and conversation’. Everyone is welcome to join the group. please note that there is no meeting in August.

WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, July 20, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This months meeting is a mix of business and hands on activities. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on July 21, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. ASH TREE INN FUN DAY: The Ash Tree In are holding a Fun Day to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity on July 26 from 4 p.m. There will be a range activities from Tug of War to an Egg and Spoon race. A Silent Auction, stalls and even some welly throwing will also be included. For more information, please call 892104.
