CHAPEL COFFEE MORNING: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on January 26 and February 23, 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.

GARDENING CLUB: The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are next meeting on January 26, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This month they have a talk from Fergus Garrett from Great Dixter. BOOK GROUPS: Trialling this month, both book groups will be reading the same book so that you can choose which group suites you. Their book is ‘The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists’ by Robert Tressell. The evening group will meet on January 27, 8 p.m. at Ashburnham Place whilst the afternoon group will meet on January 30, 2 p.m. The February book is “The Secret Children” by Alison McQueen. Set in an Indian tea plantation during the 1920s, this is the story of mixed race children who found themselves with nowhere to belong. The evening group will meet on February 24, 8 p.m. at Ashburnham Place whilst the afternoon group will meet on February 27, 2 p.m. If you would like to borrow the book or would like further information about either group, please contact Nicole on 894208 or Nicky on 892474.

PUB QUIZ: The Ash Tree Inn are holding their next Pub quiz on February 3, at 7.45 p.m. Entry is £1/person and a set meal of £5 can be ordered. Please call them on 892104 for further details.

2M@1: 2m@1 are next meeting on Monday, February 9. This month they welcome Monie Creasey with a talk on ‘Reminiscences of Ashburnham’. Everyone is welcome to join them.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Tuesday, February 10, 2.40 p.m. - 3 p.m. PLEASE NOTE THE DAY AND TIME CHANGE.

WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, February 16, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This month they welcome Joseph Ford, who runs regular courses at Great Park Farm on various aspects of horticulture. No need to book – just go along! Visitors and new members are always welcome.

VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on February 18, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. MEN’S BREAKFAST: Ashburnham Church invites you to a Men’s Breakfast on February 21 at Ashburnham Place. Starting at 8.30 a.m., Andy Proudfoot (General Director of Ashburnham Place) will talk about ‘Embracing Life, Embracing Vulnerability’. GARDENING CLUB: Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are next meeting on February 23, 7.30 p.m. at the Church Hall. Their speaker will be Stephen harmer, a lecturer in garden history. He will be talking about the history of Sissinghurst Castle garden. Everyone is welcome. Mebership is £20/year.

JUMBLE SALE: A Jumble Sale will be held on Saturday, February 28, at Ashburnham Village Hall from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. This is in aid of the new Village Hall.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on March 25, 6.30 p.m. at the Sports Pavilion. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
