VILLAGE CAROL SINGING: This years carol signing tour will be visiting Penhurst tonight, December 19. To join in with the festivities, please meet at the Church/Manor House at 6 p.m.

CHAPEL COFFEE MORNING: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on December 22, 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.

CAROLS IN THE PUB: The traditional singing of carols in the Ash Tree Inn will take place on December 22, at 7 p.m. All are welcome to go along and join in with the Christmas celebrations.

BOOK CLUBS: Both the afternoon and evening book clubs are not meeting during December.

COFFEE MORNING: The next Coffee Morning is on Monday, January 5 & 19 in the Church Hall, Ashburnham Place 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. You are welcome to go along for a good friendly chat.

PUB QUIZ: The Ash Tree Inn are holding their first Pub quiz of the year on January 6, 2015, at 7.45 p.m. Entry is £1/person and a set meal of £5 can be ordered. Please call them on 892104 for further details.

2M@1: 2m@1 are next meeting on Monday, January 12. This month they welcome Linda Thompson with a talk on ‘Bach Flower Remedies’. Everyone is welcome to join them.

WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, January 19, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This month Debbie Siniska will be breathing new life into the historic craft of rug making. No need to book – just go along! Visitors and new members are always welcome.

VILLAGE LUNCH: The next Village Lunch is on January 21 at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. Transport can be arranged if needed. For more information or to book a place, give Janet a ring on 01424 892311.

GARDENING CLUB: The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are next meeting on January 26, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This month they have a talk from Fergus Garrett from Great Dixter. BOOK GROUPS: Starting in January, both book groups will be reading the same book so that you can choose which group suites you. Their book is ‘The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists’ by Robert Tressell. This is a large book, just right to curl up on the sofa with over the Christmas period whilst others sleep off their Christmas dinner! The evening group will meet on January 27, 8 p.m. at Ashburnham Place whilst the afternoon group will meet on January 30, 2 p.m. If you would like to borrow the book or would like further information about either group, please contact Nicole on 894208 or Nicky on 892474.
