Coffee Morning: The next Coffee Morning is on Monday September 15 in the Church Hall, Ashburnham Place 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. You are welcome to go along for a good friendly chat.

WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, September 15, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This month they will be having an evening of Indian food. Sue hollings joins them to demonstrate various recipes, with samples available to enjoy! No need to book – just go along! Visitors and new members are always welcome.

Village Lunch: The next Village Lunch is on September 17 at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. Chapel Coffee Morning: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on September 22, 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.

Gardening Club: The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are next meeting on September 22, 7.30 p.m. They will be visiting members gardens (re-scheduled from July’s meeting). For more information, contact Brian Holdstock on 01323 832082 or view their website: www.ashpengc.org.uk.

Parish Council: The next meeting of Ashburnham & Penhurst Parish Council will be held at 7.30p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, in the Ashburnham Sports Pavilion. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Mobile Library: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Thursday, September 25, 9.50 a.m. - 10.10 a.m.

Afternoon Book Group: The afternoon book group are next meeting on September 26, 2pm. September’s book is ‘White Man Falling’, by Mike Stocks. Being a comic novel set in contemporary India, it chronicles the catastrophes and miracles which befall retired policeman Swami, and shows how apparently meaningless events can sometimes produce meaningful effects in our lives. Macmillan Coffee Morning: Ashburnham and Penhurst will once again be taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which is Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. In 2013, a record £20 million was raised across the country. This year Macmillan are hoping to raise even more money to help change the lives of those affected by cancer and, as a village, we are proud to be part of this event. The Coffee Morning will take place on Saturday, September 27, 10a.m. - 12p.m. at the Pavilion, Ashburnham. Along with tea and coffee, there will be delicious cakes and a raffle. If you have any prizes you would like to donate, please call Gill on 892674. The organisers hope you can join them on the day and support this worthwhile cause.
