Bell Ringers: A group of trainee bell ringers are now confidently ringing. Howevr, they would love to have more people join them, both beginners and experienced campanologists alike! They are a very friendly group and meet in Ashburnham Church every Thursday evening at 19:30p.m. Please just go along either if you used to ring or would just like to see what it’s all about.

Coffee Morning: The next Coffee Morning is on Monday September 1 & 15 in the Church Hall, Ashburnham Place 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. You are welcome to go along for a good friendly chat.

Pub Quiz: The Pub Quiz at the Ash Tree Inn will take place on September 2, 7.45 p.m., £1 entry. A £5 set meal is available. For further information, please contact the Ash Tree Inn on 01424 892104.

2m@1: 2m@1 are next meeting on Monday, September 8, at the Church Hall. This month they will have “An inside look at the British justice system” with Sir jermey Cooke. Everyone is welcome to join them.

Mobile Library: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Thursday, September 11 & 25, 9.50 a.m. - 10.10 a.m.

After School Club: The After School Club resumes on September 11, 4.15 p.m. at Ashburnham Village Hall.

WI: Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, September 15, 7.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. This month they will be having an evening of Indian food. Sue hollings joins them to demonstrate various recipes, with samples available to enjoy! No need to book – just go along! Visitors and new members are always welcome.

Village Lunch: The next Village Lunch is on September 17 at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30 p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. Chapel Coffee Morning: Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on September 22, 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.

Parish Council: The next meeting of Ashburnham & Penhurst Parish Council will be held at 7.30p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, in the Ashburnham Sports Pavilion. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Afternoon Book Group: The afternoon book group are next meeting on September 26, 2pm. September’s book is ‘White Man Falling’, by Mike Stocks. Being a comic novel set in contemporary India, it chronicles the catastrophes and miracles which befall retired policeman Swami, and shows how apparently meaningless events can sometimes produce meaningful effects in our lives. Macmillan Coffee Morning: A coffee morning in aid of Macmillan will be held on Saturday, September 27, 10a.m. - 12p.m. at the Pavilion, Ashburnham. Along with tea and coffee, there will be delicious cakes and a raffle. If you ahve any prizes you would like to donate, please call Gill on 892674.
