Ashburnham Church is holding a Men’s Breakfast tomorrow, July 5, 8.30 a.m. at Ashburnham Place. Paul Wenham, General Director of Ashburnham Place, will talk on ‘5 minutes that changed my life’. Ashburnham Local History Group are visiting Lewes on July 7, 11 a.m. This is to mark the 750th Anniversary of the Battle of Lewes. Meet by car parks near corner of Brook Street/North Street. Walking tour of medieval town walls, castle and priory of St Pancras. Afternoon visit (optional) to Sussex Ironworks Museum at Anne of Cleeves House. Parking & entrance fees payable.

PANTS (Penhurst & Ashburnham New Theatrical Society) are holding a coffee morning on Saturday, July 12, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. You are invited to indulge in delicious cakes over a tea or coffee and a friendly chit chat.

2m@1 are meeting on July 14, 1 p.m. at Ashburnham Church Hall. Catherine Duggleby and Martin West will talk about ‘Hastings Street Pastors’. Everyone is welcome to join the group. Please note that there is no meeting during August.

PANTS (Penhurst & Ashburnham New Theatrical Society) are holding auditions for this years panto, Sleeping Beauty, on July 14, 7.30 p.m. at Ashburnham Village Hall.

The next Village Lunch is on July 16, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. The Afternoon Book Group’s May gathering is on July 25, 2 p.m. During July they will be reading ‘Waterland’, by Graham Swift. History-teacher Tom, whose career and marriage are both under threat, abandons the syllabus and teaches his pupils about the second world war by drawing on his experiences growing up in the fens. Penhurst Retreat Centre are holding an open day on July 26. There will be great music courtesy of Hannah Latty and friends. Hannah Latty has released several albums as well as being a director at Ashburnham place. There will also be goodies, paintings, plants and refreshments available. A ploughman’s lunch will be available 12.20 p.m. - 2 p.m. and cream teas 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. A Thanksgiving Service will be held at Penhurst Church at 4 p.m. which will have Jen Rees Larcombe talking on the theme of ‘God’s quiet miracles’.

Ashburnham Chapel are holding a coffee morning on July 28, 10.30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All are welcome to join them.
