The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are next meeting on October 22, 7.30pm at Ashburnham Church Hall. This month is entitled ‘Winter Gardens’.

Ashburnham & Penhurst Book Group’s October book is “Troubles” by J.G.Farrell, a book both sad and gently comic, set in Ireland in 1919 as the struggle for independence gathers force. If you would like to read it, give Nicky a call on 01424 892474. Their next get together will be Friday October 26 at 2pm.

Ashburnahm Local History Group are planning to next meet on Monday October 29, 7.30pm in Ashburnham Church Hall. Subjects to include ‘Escapades of the 5th Earl’ and ‘Ashburnham in the age of heavy industry (1540-1820).

The next Coffee Morning is on Monday November 5 & 19 in the Church Hall, Ashburnham Place 10:30am - 12pm. You are welcome to go along for a good friendly chat. For further information, please contact Tina on 01424 843728.

Ashburnham Bonfire is to be held on November 9. At this stage I have no further information but as soon as I have it, I will let you know the details.

2m@1 (2nd Monday of the month @ 1 O’clock), are meeting on November 12 at Ashburnham Church hall. This month will be a talk from Rhod Jones who will be speaking about Capability Brown and the Ashburnham Landscape.

Film Club is on November 14, Ashburnham and Penhurst are to have their own film club with screenings this winter on the second Wednesday of the month in the Sports Pavilion. Doors open at 7.45pm and the programme will start at 8.15pm. Seating is limited so it is essential to reserve your place in advance by contacting Brian Holdstock (email [email protected] or phone or text 07836 716723). The film club’s licence means it will operate as a members only closed club so at the first screening you come to you will need to decide to either pay for the one screening as a ‘taster’ or to subscribe for the whole season of five films. The ticket prices are £7.50. The price does include a glass of wine at every screening! The final programme will be announced shortly and on the village website.
