Ashburnham & Penhurst village voice

The PCSO for Ashburnham and Penhurst has reported a few incidents in the area in the last few weeks:

A report was received on August 7 at around 2030hrs that a lock was broken off a heater oil tank in Ashburnham by two unknown males.

A further report was received that an outbuilding in the Ashburnham area was broken in to during the weekend period of August 4-5, light machinery was stolen. Over the night time period of Friday 10 and Saturday August 11, a tractor door was smashed whilst in a barn in the Ashburnham area. A further report was made that during the period of Friday August 10, 3 chainsaws were taken from a property in the Ashburnham - Dallington area by three unknown males. If you saw anything suspicious or know anything about these incidents that will assist the police in their investigations, please contact Daryl or the Battle Neighbourhood Policing Team by calling 101, EXT 65261.

The Silver Anniversary Ride & Walk, Celebrating 25 year of St Michael’s Hospice is this Sunday, August 19 at Ashburnham. This is a 10 or 7 mile ride or walk through the beautiful vale of Ashburnham. You re invited to support the event by riding or walking the course. Last year £2400 was raised for the hospice as well as money for the Village Hall/Sports Pavilion. Schedules are available from the Ash Tree Inn, Ashburnham or by calling Sue Sibbering on 01435 830435.

Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on August 20 in Ashburnham Village Hall, 7.30pm. This month they will be having a talk about Bach Flower Remedies.

The next Coffee Morning is on Monday August 20 in the Church Hall, Ashburnham Place 10:30am - 12pm. You are welcome to go along for a good friendly chat. For further information, please contact Tina on 01424 843728.

The 4th Ashburnham Village Fete & Flower Show is taking place on Sat 25th August at Ashburnham Village Hall from 2pm - 5pm. The Flower Show is open to everyone and includes 92 classes in 5 sections: Vegetables & Fruit; Flowers; Produce; Photography, Arts & Crafts; and Junior Classes (the latter judged in 2 groups, ages 8 and under and ages 9 - 16). The Village Fete will include a range of traditional fete stalls and activities, including cakes, produce, books, plants, raffle, etc, plus delicious homemade refreshments. The event is jointly organised by the Ashburnham & Penhurst Women’s Institute and the Ashburnham & Penhurst Gardening Club.

The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Thursday August 30, 9.50am - 10.10am.

There is no 2m@1 meeting during August.

The Chapel will be holding a special service on September 16, 6.30pm. This is a service to dedicate a tree to Fred Chacksfield, a pillar of the community and a man whom many remember fondly. Refreshments will be available afterwards to enable those attending to share their memories of Fred.
