Assault on woman after flat burglary

A WOMAN was assaulted and a large amount of cash was stolen in a robbery in Worthing on Saturday.

Police were called following reports that a 19-year-old woman opened the door to leave the property in Gratwicke Road at around 12.15pm when she was confronted by the suspects,.

She was pushed to the floor and verbally threatened.

An untidy search of the property was made before the suspects left with several thousand pounds in cash, an Ipad and Iphone.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Scullion from West Sussex CID said: “This was a frightening incident which has understandably left the victim very shaken.

“We believe that it may have been a targeted attack and would appeal to anyone who knows who is responsible or saw any suspicious activity in the area to please get in touch.

The suspects who forced their way into the property are both described as black and around 6’. One was wearing a black jacket over a white shirt and black bottoms.

The other was wearing all black clothing. There may have been another two men waiting outside the property.

Witnesses should call 101 quoting serial 784 of 15/6 or leave an anonymous message with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
