Assault on woman in St Leonards sparks appeal

Witnesses are being sought after a woman was assaulted in St Leonards.

The 24-year-old woman called police from a telephone kiosk at 4am to say that she had been punched, kicked and choked by a man known to her on Sunday, January 3.

She was treated at the Conquest Hospital and later released.

Following the incident, a 29-year-old man voluntarily attended Hastings police station for interview.

Hastings police neighbourhood response team’s Sgt Aidan Cornwall said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything concerning this incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to email or phone 101, quoting serial 199 of 03/01.
