ATTEMPTED POST OFFICE ROBBERY

Police are investigating an attempted robbery at Windmill Hill post office in East Sussex.

At 12.40pm on May 31, a man entered the shop with what is believed to be a handgun. The 43-year-old male owner tried to push him out of the shop but in a tussle, fell to the floor. The offender ran off empty handed.

The offender is described as 5ft 10, medium build, wearing blue overalls with a red and silver logo on one side. He was carrying a white plastic bag.

The owner suffered minor cuts and bruises, which did not require treatment.

DS Ian Lucas said: "We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or recognises this man to contact police on 0845 60 70 999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
