Autumn’s welcome windfall for The Learning Tree

BRANCHING out to set up her own nursery school, The Learning Tree, has paid off for Carolyn Henton and the community she serves in and around Arundel.

And now The Learning Tree has received a fresh windfall, from Arundel and District Rotary Club, with a £180 donation to the nursery to buy more toys for the children.

Carolyn opened the nursery in the Arundel Youth Club premises in Surrey Street in September, 2009, after another pre-school in the town closed, leaving parents with few options for childcare in Arundel.

She previously ran a small pre-school from her home in Angmering for eight children, and the new venture in Arundel enabled her to take on a larger operation, with the support of a team she has built up there.

Rotary club president Helen Seller visited The Learning Tree to find out more about the nursery and spend some time playing with the children.

A club spokeswoman said: “We all know it’s hard to find someone with this level of commitment to our children and to the local community which Carolyn and her excellent team have shown.

“With this in mind, the club felt a donation should be made in recognition of all the hard work that has been put in. A donation was made to buy more toys for the children and we hope to be more involved with more community-driven individuals like Carolyn.”
