Award winning sax player to play Rye

TWICE MOBO award winning sax player Yolanda Brown plays Rye as part of Rye International Jazz Festival.

Yolanda has been booked by the Rye Bay marketing Group, who are supporting the Festival, which takes place from August 24 -27.

Yolanda is widely regarded as the emerging “voice” of mainstream Jazz in the UK and she is one of the most exciting, in-demand live performers mixing Jazz, Soul and Reggae.

Her debut album “April Showers May Flowers” peaked at number 1 on the iTunes and Amazon Jazz charts. She has toured with The Temptations, Errol Brown, Courtney Pine and Diana Krall and collaborated with artists such as Mica Paris, Soweto Kinch and as part of Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.

Yolanda recently tweeted to her followers that she was very excited to be coming to Rye.

Supporting Yolanda will be Shansel Huseyin who recently featured on BBC1’s The Voice. Shansel delivers songs in a vocal style that is described as Operatic Soul and she has an eclectic repertoire of covers ranging from Katherine Jenkins through to Amy Winehouse.

Yolanda Brown and Shansel Huseyin will be performing at Rye College on Monday August 27 at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £16.50.
