Axeman arrested in Lancing

A MAN pulled out an axe and started threatening passers-by with it after a comment was made about his dog.

He was walking along South Street, Lancing, on Tuesday afternoon (June 10) when an elderly man spoke to him about his Staffordshire bull terrier.

The man took offence and then produced an axe and began waving it about and threatening people. No one was hurt.

The police were called and he was arrested for being in possession of an offensive weapon.

The 27-year-old local man was due to be questioned by police officers today (June 11).

Adur police are appealing for the elderly man who originally spoke to the man to contact them.
