Baha'is concerned over Iran

Members of the Baha'i community around Bognor Regis have spoken of their concern about the persecution of their religion.

The European Union recently issued a statement on the human rights situation in Iran as attacks on Iranian members of the Baha'i Faith '“ and others, including Christians '“ continue unabated.

Pat Salter, of Climping, said the Iranian government had stepped up its work to identify and monitor Baha'is, abused and discriminated against Baha'i students and children and tried to deprive Baha'is of their livelihood.

'Although the Baha'is are the largest religious minority in Iran, there are also many Christian and other faiths in Iran who are also liable to suffer some discrimination,' she said.
