Christina Chinn, who runs The Nan Wilding Day Centre at Bexhill Caring Community (BCC), Sackville Road, had the idea for the competition. She said: “After the success of the great British Bake Off I am hoping the Bexhill citizens might feel inspired to try their hand at cake making.”

The event takes place on Wednesday November 12 and has three categories: Scones; Fruit Loaf; Victoria Sponge. It costs £1 to enter each category and your culinary delights must be delivered to BCC before 10am on November 12. Councillor Stuart Earle and Bexhill Caring Community Manager Jackie Haggerty will be judging the competition. Donated cakes will be sliced and sold to raised money for Children in Need.
