JUDY'S NOODLE DAY: A grand total of £2,042 was raised for Cancer Research and Muscular Dystrophy through the sale of Christmas cards, small gifts and, of course, our annual chicken noodle lunches. We apologise for the CRUK cards being limited to 'old stock', but apparently new stock could not be made available until November 1st. This was too late for us and fortunately St. Catherine's Hospice were able to step in at short notice. Many thanks to them '“ CRUK's loss was St. Catherine's £200 gain. Annie and Anna once more excelled with their cooking of 91 meals and takeaways. The chicken was donated by Richard Sewell, four sets of beautiful earrings were given by Richard Talman (RT Fine Jewellery), vouchers came from Woolovers (Burgess Hill) and Wyvale (Handcross), and cakes from Shirley. Beryl and Elaina looked after the raffle, Val dealt with the gifts and last, but by no means least, Sue served coffee. There were also Annie's famous homemade Curry Puffs supplied to order.

Bryan and I, with the indispensable help of Annie and Jackie, have been organising this charity event in Balcombe for some years and we have decided it is time for a rest. So this year’s “Noodle Day” was the last. Indeed, on all fronts over the years, people have been wonderfully generous with both time and money and we cannot thank you all enough.

HAYWARDS HEATH ROAD CLOSURE: Balcombe Road, Haywards Heath, under the railway bridge, between Mill Green Road and Burrell Road is temporarily prohibited until 9 December 2016. The closure is at the tunnel itself so you can still access Burrell Road etc. This closure is necessary to allow gas main replacement works beneath the railway bridge.
