Balcombe

VILLAGE DEFIBRILLATOR: There is now a defibrillator installed on the wall of Bramble Hall. After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR reduces someone's survival by 10%. A Defib is simple and safe to use because the machine gives clear spoken instructions. You don't need training to use one, and when you call 999 the ambulance service will direct you to the machine. A big thank you to Chris Pierpoint who installed the machine free of charge.

FLOWER CLUB: meet on Friday 25 March at 7.30 pm in the Parish Room. Gillian Sadler will be returning to the Club with her theme this time “Sussex Life.”

61 CLUB COFFEE MORNING : takes place on Saturday 26 March from 10.00 am until 12 noon in the Parish Room. Any donations for the stalls would be most welcome on the day. There will be a raffle, an Easter Egg Raffle, Tombola, Produce and Bring and Buy stall. Your support is always appreciated.

SPRING SHOW: The organisers had a great time at the Show last Saturday and we hope that all the people who visited and entered the competition did so too. The hall was busy all afternoon with many people enjoying the friendly village atmosphere and the delicious home-made cakes on offer. The David Tewson Memorial cup (presented for the most points in the horticultural classes) was won by Jean Bardwell. The Denman Plate (presented for the most points in the Domestic classes) went to Nicola Preston Bell. The Mollie Nicholson Junior cup (presented for the best exhibit in the children’s classes) was awarded to a delighted Annabelle Pring. Lastly the Diploma (for the best exhibit in the flower classes) went to Jean Bardwell. This year there were record entries for the Balcombe Bake Off – the Competition Cake which was a challenging (particularly the icing) but very tasty Cinnamon Iced Gingerbread. Look out for the Autumn challenge which is a Victoria Sponge – recipe in the Year Book.
