Baldy day, hair today, gone today

FATHER-of-four Philip Robson shaved off all his hair and beard to raise money for the Shoreham Air Show Fund.

Mr Robson, 67, a driver of Slindon Close, Broadwater, went to his favourite hair salon, Wise Guys, in Broadwater Street West, with his daughters Kirsty Robson, 28, and Carrie Robson, 30, on Saturday.

So far, he has raised more than £250.

Miss Robson said: “We are all very proud of him for doing it, our mother who died nine years ago would have hated the bald look but she also would have been so proud of him too.

“He didn’t know anyone involved in the crash but when he heard about it he just wanted to do something to help. It doesn’t surprise me that he is doing this as he is a very kind and caring man.’’

Mr Robson got the idea from Carrie, who two years ago cut off her long curly black hair and donated it to The Little Princess Trust, a charity who makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to alopecia or chemotherapy.

She said: ‘‘My dad has had a beard for as long as I can remember and it’s going to be so weird to see him with no hair, I think it’s great that he’s doing it and he didn’t even hesitate when I suggested the idea.’’

Wise Guys salon owner Lisa Evans, 44, from Billingshurst, said: ‘‘Philip has been a lovely customer over the last seven years and when he asked us to do it we were more than happy. We will leave the donation bucket in the salon for the next week for extra donations.’’
