Ban for drink-driver who drove car on three wheels

Luke Drea, 18, unemployed of Blackgate Lane, Pulborough was arrested on May 1 at around 12.30am after being seen driving on the A272 on three wheels.

He was stopped and arrested on the A24, north of Buck Barn, and charged with drink driving and driving a vehicle likely to cause danger of injury

He was found to have 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – twice the legal limit.

Drea was convicted at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on May 1 and was disqualified from driving for 19 months, as well as having to pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Sergeant Neil Cox, from the road policing team, said: “Drea could have caused serious injury to himself or to someone else on the road that day when he chose to drive the car knowing full well he was over the limit. Thankfully his reckless behaviour was reported before anything serious happened and we were able to arrest and charge him for the offence. The courts have now taken away his licence for a substantial amount of time meaning he no longer a danger on the roads.”
