Beatles Day runs continuously from midday to late on two stages with 70 acts and around 350 mainly local amateur performers of all ages and abilities playing Beatles songs of their choice and in their own style for up to 20 minutes.

Over the years there have been folk, punk, country and western, blues, heavy rock, indie bands, school choirs and song and dance acts performing alongside bands playing the songs as recorded by the Beatles.

Everyone plays for free and all proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales go to MacMillan Cancer Support Charity with over £130,000 raised since 2000.

Wristbands are £10 for the day with cheaper deals for children and families. Its cash only on the day, with credit card bookings available in advance from the White Rock Theatre and website.

Organiser Pete Prescott says this year will be bigger than ever with another large audience expected “for what is a truly unique and enjoyable day”.
