Bank Holiday fun in revamped square

COME and join in the Bank Holiday fun - that's the invitation this weekend as newly-revamped Devonshire Square gets the opportunity to demonstrate its potential.

Organisers say the pedestrianised square will burst into life with a kaleidoscope of entertainment including some of the UK's best street theatre.

"An exciting day of Bexhill seaside reminiscence with a modern twist."

Bexhill Town Mayor Deirdre Williams and county council vice chairman Cllr Ron Dyason will officially open the square at noon.

More than 40 local children will showcase their talents, from drumming and carnival music with Red Zebra, to life-size living postcards by Blue Dot Arts and street theatre comedy on a motor racing theme from Inside Out Theatre Co.

All the youngsters involved have been enthusiastically working towards this occasion through a series of out-of-school workshops and activity clubs held at Bexhill High School.

This major free family event is brought to the public by Rother District Council and Inside Out Theatre Co. with additional funding support from Bexhill Town Centre and Tourism Action Group, The Children's Fund, East Sussex County Council and Rythmix.
