Brighton and Hove drivers are among the first 39 motorists to be convicted as part of summer crackdown in Sussex and Surrey on drink and drug-drivers, police said.

Claire Simmons, 44, unemployed, of Sunninghill Avenue, Hove, was arrested in Sunninghill Avenue, Hove, on June 2 and charged with driving with 75mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 22, she was disqualified from driving for 17 months. She was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Dara Honar, 33, a telecommunications engineer, of Hurst Hill, Brighton, was arrested in London Road, Brighton, on June 2 and charged with driving with 44mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 22, he was disqualified from driving for 36 months. He was also ordered to pay a £510 fine, £85 costs and a £51 victim surcharge.

Steven Joseph, 33, a removals operative, of Graham Avenue, Brighton, was arrested in Graham Avenue, Brighton, on June 8 and charged with driving with 65mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 22, he was disqualified from driving for 17 months. He was also ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Benjamin Manners, 21, a student, of The Brow, Brighton, was arrested in Bear Road, Brighton, on June 8 and charged with driving with 103mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 22, he was disqualified from driving for 23 months. He was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, and pay £85 costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Jacobo Ameijenda, 30, a chef, of Steyning Avenue, Peacehaven, was arrested in East Street, Brighton, on June 10 and charged with driving with 74mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 26, he was disqualified from driving for 20 months. He was also ordered to pay a £403 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

Miroslaw Zurawski, 55, a roofer, of New England Road, Brighton, was arrested in London Road, Brighton, on June 11, and charged with driving with 68mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system, driving with no insurance and driving without a valid test certificate.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 26, he was disqualified from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay a £403 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

Leonet Rodriguez, 43, a builder, of Netherfield Green, Brighton, was arrested in Warren Road, Brighton on June 11 and charged with driving with 65mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on June 26, he was disqualified from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay a £807 fine, £85 costs and a £80 victim surcharge.
