Barclays Bank staff in Lewes to serve coffee and cake for Macmillan

Employees of Barclays Bank in Lewes will be swapping their suits for aprons on Friday, September 27, as they take part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s famous World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The branch will be serving customers a cuppa and a slice of something sweet in the hopes of raising £600 for people affected by cancer.

The event is set to be a storming success with staff planning a cake sale, as well as a book sale, and ‘dress down’ day with a Macmillan green theme. Local companies are also supporting them by donating cakes for the sale.

In 2012 Barclays’ employees and customers across the UK smashed their fundraising target and raised £640,000 for Macmillan, helping the charity to provide emotional, practical, medical and financial support to people affected by cancer to help ensure no one has to face cancer alone.

Andrew Springall, Lewes’ Branch Business Manager, said: “We’re really looking forward to inviting our local community to join us once again for such a good cause.”
