GARDEN CLUB: Barcombe Garden Club will be meeting on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the village hall, when Deborah Scott-Anderson will be talking about The Near Future Garden - Connecting with Climate Change. This is a slightly different title to that advertised in the programme and reflects recent research and developments. You don’t need to be a member to come to any of our meetings, so if you’re particularly interested in the effects of climate change, this is one not to be missed. All welcome.

MINDFULNESS: A new eight week course with a free introductory session at the village hall 2pm to 3pm on Tuesday for anyone interested to come along. Course runs 1pm to 3pm Tuesday September 27 to November 15. Helps people to manage stress and enhance general well-being. Booking Teresa 07957 858583 or [email protected]

DRAMA GROUP: Kaleidoscope children’s drama group will start the autumn term at the village hall on Tuesday September 27, 5.30pm to 6.30pm. A junior drama class for 7 to 11 year olds. This popular class helps to boost children’s creativity and confidence. Enquiries: Deidre Tel: 07963 478393.

BOWLING CLUB: Last week’s results are as follows: Away games, Uckfield 95 Barcombe 51; St Annes Well Gardens (Hove) 29 Barcombe 33. Home game, Barcombe 75 Deanland 54. As promised in last week’s edition here are the winners from the Finals Day Club Competition. Presidents Shield Drawn Pairs Derek Stewart and Mick Cragg; Cecil Ridley Memorial Cup 100 Up, Jas Osmond; Lillian Lee Ladies Singles, Ann Hills; Coronation Cup Singles Handicap, Mick Cragg; Nobby Heasman Mixed Pairs, Mick Cragg and Steve Brown; Bunney Cup Two Wood, John Simpson; Foresters Cup Men’s Singles, Steve Brown.

There are still four more match games to play before the end of the season. Meanwhile practice games are being played in preparation for the Short Mat Bowls league games in October. An Open Evening is being held on September 22 from 7.30pm until 9.30pm in the Sports Hall at Barcombe School.
