Barker's Meals on Wheels visit
Town MP Greg Barker welcomed the work of local Meals on Wheels staff when he visited the Charter Community Centre as part of national Meals on Wheels week.
Greg met Sheila Stokes and her colleagues from Apetito, the company which operates the Meals on Wheels scheme for many local authorities, and the chefs from the Charter Community Centre. Between them, they provide both a drop-in lunch at the community centre and a delivery service to individuals at home.
Each year, more than 25 million community meals are delivered to the elderly and vulnerable living in their own homes enabling them to maintain their independence.
