Barnham Scout’s poster takes the competition prize

SCOUT Hannah Farrant’s fire safety poster proved to be a winner – for herself and the group.

The design by Hannah, 13, won a national competition organised for Scout groups across the UK by Chubb Fire & Security.

Her poster showing a home escape plan in the event of a fire was judged the best of more than 70 entries, winning £300 for the 1st Barnham Scouts. The design has also been uploaded onto Chubb’s website and is being published in the Scout movement’s magazine.

Hannah’s mum, Sue, 1st Barnham Scouts leader, said an evening was devoted to producing posters for the competition. “We had a discussion about different causes of fire in the home before starting on the designs.

“We are not sure yet what we will spend the prize money on, but it will provide a great opportunity for the whole troop to take part in an outdoor activity over the summer.”

Since its launch in 2004, more than 92,000 Scouts have received the Chubb Fire Safety Badge.
