THERE were smiles all round at Battle Abbey School yesterday (Thursday) as students collected their A Level results.

“72 per cent of all candidates achieved A* to B grade.

“Of our 48 A Level candidates a fantastic one third achieved at least three A grades.

“86 per cent of all grades were at A*-C, with a pass rate of just over 99 per cent.

“Particular mention should go to Naomi Cruikshank, formerly of Filsham Valley School, who achieved three A* grades and will be going on to study medicine at Southampton, and Max Maher, previously of St Richard’s, who achieved three A* and an A grade, who has a place to study Natural Sciences at Durham.

Sam Bunday, Tom Collins, Jordan Dowdall, Alice King, Jasmine Munns, Oscar Rogers, Oliver Slacke and Richard Wood were among other local star candidates.

“These really are exceptional A Level results overall and are a great credit to pupils, teachers and parents.”

* GCSE results are due out on Thursday (August 23).
