Battle and District Ladies Luncheon Club

A WELL-ATTENDED meeting for the August lunch with good company and an excellent meal.

We were given the sad news that our president Suki had died and a representative from our membership was attending the funeral as we met.

Our speaker for the afternoon was Sheila Richardson who told us about her hobby with glass.

This had first started when she lived in America for three years she perfected the art of making hanging pictures in glass.

To cut the glass ready to join together a paper pattern was made and cut to size.

Great care must be taken with disposal of the shards after scoring.

The pieces of the design are then joined together with a sticky copper ribbon.

To finish the ornament, a solder is used to secure the glass.

Sheila displayed her lovely designs of yachts, butterflies, different Christmas decorations and a beautiful table lamp.

The ladies meet next at Bannatynes Hotel on Wednesday September 12 at noon where Mrs Dilys Bingham will be telling us about ‘Delights of Fostering’.
