The new procession route will take in Caldbec Hill, with parking restrictions extended to include Caldbec Hill, as well as High Street, Upper Lake and Lower Lake.

With less than a week to go, Battel Bonfire Boyes (BBB) are busy making the final preparations for their bonfire celebrations on November 5.

Matt Southam, BBB spokesperson, said: “Over 1,000 torches have been made, wood has been sourced for the fire and pages and pages of risk assessments completed.

“The day’s celebrations start with a children’s fancy dress parade at 10am.

“Accompanied children who wish to enter should meet at the top of the high street by the fire station at 9.45am and they will then be joined by the Rubbish Drummers and the Oldest Guy in the World to make their way down the High Street to the Abbey Green where judging of the fancy dress will take place.

“Young people are also encouraged to make a guy for the fire with cash prizes for the best guy plus the privilege of having the guy placed on top of the fire. Judging takes place at 10.30am on the Green.”

Roads closures will come into force at 6pm to allow the procession to start at 7.30pm.

Any vehicles left on the procession route after 6pm will be removed and stored overnight at the vehicle owner’s expense.

The bonfire and firework display is expected to happen around 9.30pm on the Abbey Green.

There is no dedicated public viewing area and the Abbey Green is likely to become very busy.
