Battle boys Keane film new video in Bexhill

BATTLE band Keane are due in Bexhill today (Friday) to film a music video for their next single.

The band released their latest album, Strangeland, earlier this week, with strong sales putting Keane at the top of the midweek charts.

It’s understood the video will feature a vintage car which will take frontman Tom Chaplin on a road trip from Bexhill’s seafront amusement arcade through the town to join a huge party at the Sovereign Light Cafe on West Parade.

Bexhill Classic Cycle Group said yesterday that it had received an urgent request for riders in period costume, with penny-farthing or similarly early bicycles, for the afternoon film shoot by the Love Commercial Production Company.

Organiser Ray Konyn said: “The aim will be to create a heartfelt portrait of a much-loved town and a joyful celebration of English life.”

At the time of going to press, Tom and fellow band member Tim Rice-Oxley were both understood to be suffering from food poisoning, so filming could be dependent on them being restored to health.

Meanwhile the Hastings Beer and Music Festival website almost descended into meltdown as fans clamoured to get their hands on tickets to watch headliners Keane.

More than 2,500 tickets were sold within the first few hours of them going on line at 9am last Friday.

In the first 25 minutes, more than 1,000 fans every second were trying to connect with the website.

There were 3,000 web page impressions being created per second as desperate fans tried to get their hands on tickets for the July 6 gig.

Festival organisers had to increase the bandwidth of their system to meet demand and kept fans updated via social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.

Yesterday (Thursday) there were around 500 online tickets left which were expected to be snapped up by this weekend.
