Battle crime round-up

Here is a round-up of crimes committed in the Battle area this week.

A NUMBERPLATE was stolen from a car parked in Lower Street, Ninfield, overnight between 8pm-7.20am on March 1.

VANDALS damaged a vehicle parked in a driveway in Saxonwood Road in Battle on February 28.

The nearside fog light was damaged in the incident, sometime between 4-8pm.

THIEVES stole two bird scarers, including gas bottles and batteries, from a field at Watts Palace Lane, Staplecross.

The theft was reported to police on March 3 and happened sometime during the two weeks beforehand.

A VEHICLE was damaged whilst parked on a driveway in Heathfield Road in Burwash, sometime between 6pm on March 2 and 9.30am the next day.

The vehicle was scratched and four panels were damaged.

AN ADVERTISING sign was stolen from Riccards Lane in Whatlington on March 5.

The board was approximately 3'x6', covered in plastic and mounted on a post.

The village PCSO is making enquiries.

A BLACK Renault Clio was stolen from Brightling Park, Brightling, on March 5 whilst the owner was walking the dog. Police are investigating.

POLICE are checking CCTV footage after reports of motorists driving off without paying for fuel at Tesco Express at Battle Hill, Battle.

On March 1, a Vauxhall Vectra, with tinted windows, smoked rear lights and twin exhausts, was seen leaving the forecourt after the driver filled it up with fuel and made no attempt to pay.

Another incident of driving off without paying happened at Tesco Express on March 5.

CCTV is being reviewed and police enquiries are continuing.
