Battle crime round-up

Here is this week's Battle crime round-up.

THIEVES stole a purse from a handbag in Coronation Cottages, Salehurst, whilst the owner of the bag was working in the property.

The theft happened on February 13.

JEWELLERY, electrical items and ornaments were stolen during a break in at a home in School Hill, Burwash.

The owners of the property returned after being away for a week and found their home had been ransacked by the callous thieves who smashed a rear window to get into the property.

Police say many of the items stolen were of 'high value'.

Scenes of Crime Officers attended the scene and house to house enquiries were carried out by the PCSOs and Specialist Neighbourhood Officers.

The incident was reported to police on February 13.

VANDALS damaged the front windscreen, driver and back windows of a car in Manchester Road in Ninfield overnight on February 15.

The suspect removed the petrol cap on the vehicle with a possible view to siphoning off the petrol.

The attempt failed and police believe vehicle was then attacked out of frustration.

A LARGE amount of chilled meat was stolen from a shop in Market Place, Battle on February 16.

The incident was captured on CCTV and witnesses are currently being interviewed by police.

A MOTORBIKE was stolen from an unlocked shed in Bodiam Road, Bodiam, on February 16.

The Suzuki DRZ125, which was also not locked, was taken between 7.30am on February 8 and 10am on February 16.

A CARAVAN was stolen from Bodiam between 6pm on February 16 and 8am the next day.

The Marauda 2 caravan was secure at the time of the theft.

THIEVES stole heating oil from a tank in the front garden of a property in Borders Lane, Etchingham.

Police believe a lorry or truck pulled up nearby and drained the oil out through a pipe.

The theft happened between 11am on February 9 and 10am the next day.

TWO generators, valued at 375, were stolen from a property in Northbridge Street, Robertsbridge.

A lock on the main gate was cut and the surrounding fence was damaged during the break in.

Thieves then cut holes into the door workshop and an untidy search was made.

The theft happened between 7.30pm on February 18 and 9am the next day,

THIEVES attempted to break into an outbuilding at a Mountfield business by removing a panel from the side of the building to gain access.

Nothing was stolen in the incident, which happened between 5pm on February 16 and 7am the next day.

THIEVES tried to steal a vehicle in Langham Road, Robertsbridge, overnight on February 18.

The steering column was damaged as the suspects tried to start the engine.

POWER tools were stolen from two unattended vans in Robertsbridge last week.

A disc cutter was taken from a van in Heathfield Gardens between 9.30pm on February 15 and 9.30am the next day.

The thieves smashed the front offside window to get into the vehicle.

Between 3pm on February 16 and 6.30am the next day, another company van was broken into in Fair Lane.

The rear doors were forced open and a hole was punched through the rear door handle.

Thieves carried out an untidy search of the van before making off with three drills, worth around 500, from the back of the vehicle and loose change from the glovebox.

The stolen items were a De Walt 12V, Bosch twin pack and a hammer drill in a case.
