Battle Festival will be '˜bigger and better next year'

The month-long festival, which celebrated arts and literature, attracted visitors from across Europe and America who enjoyed the programme of some 43 varied events.

Cllr Furness said: “The festival widened its offering this year and the authors events were extremely well received.

“Feedback from all the audiences was very positive and we would like to thank our partners in this project - ROOT 1066 and Glyndebourne Opera House.

“With their help and that of our own community made the performances world class.

“It is pleasing to know that the local economy benefitted enormously from the festival and Concorde 1066 events.

The sell out performances and positive feedback are a great incentive to put on an even bigger and better festival next year.

“I would like to say many thanks to all our supporters and helpers.

“Without their involvement it would not be possible to stage such a month long event.”

Battle Festival will return in October 2017 where a month of events will begin again.
