Battle man charged with woman's murder in Herstmonceux

A Battle man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Herstmonceux.

Gerry Palmer, 50, of Powdermill Lane, has been charged with the murder of Carrie Izzard.

The 47-year-old woman was found dead at her home in West End on Monday (21 March).

A post mortem examination has revealed the cause of death as stab wounds to the neck.

Palmer was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, after being found with injuries on the same day.

Following treatment he was discharged from hospital but immediately arrested.

Palmer appeared before Brighton magistrates today (Thursday, March 24) and was remanded in custody to appear at Hove Crown Court on Tuesday, March 29.
