Battle Mayor presents Jubilee mugs to schoolchildren

BATTLE mayor Cllr Ron Harris, accompanied by Cllr Paula Fisher, visited Netherfield and Battle and Langton Primary schools last week to present all the children with souvenir mugs to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The presentation was Cllr Harris’ last civic duty before a new mayor was elected.

The mugs were provided by Battle Town Council, perpetuating a long-standing tradition of giving schoolchildren a souvenir of significant events in the life of the country.

After the presentations, Cllr Harris said: “No civic duty that I have performed in my mayoral year in office has given me more pleasure.

“Seeing so many well-behaved and happy children assembled in the school hall for this presentation is heart-warming.”

The mug presentations marked the start of Battle’s events to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.
