BLOOD CHECK: FREE blood pressure checks will be on offer at the Day Lewis Pharmacy in Battle High Street on Friday April 28, 9am-12.30pm.

The checks have been organised by the Rotary Club of Battle in conjunction with the pharmacy.

MUSIC HALL

THE Olde Tyme Players will present Olde Tyme Music Hall at Battle Memorial Hall on Saturday April 21 from 7.30pm.

The event is being jointly organised by the Rotary Clubs of Battle and Senlac, with all proceeds going to charity.

CHURCH EXTENSION

THE NEW extension at St Mary’s Church in Battle will be officially opened on Sunday April 22.

The extension will provide a new meeting room and kitchen as well as improved vestry and toilet facilities.

The opening of the Benedicta Whistler Centre will be celebrated with a service at 10.30am, during which the building will be opened by the Mayor of Battle, Councillor Ron Harris, and blessed by the Archdeacon of Lewes, The Venerable Philip Jones, who will also preach the sermon.

TABLE TENNIS

DURING April, May and June, Battle Community Table Tennis Club is offering four consecutive introductory sessions for just £8, for new players only.

The club operates on Thursday evenings at Claverham Community Sports College, 7-9pm and is open to all ages (seven years plus) and abilities.

The club offers a mixture of social play, fun and coaching from a fully qualified ETTA coach with competitive play available for those interested.

PARISH ASSEMBLY

SEDLESCOMBE’S Annual Parish Assembly will take place at the village hall on Tuesday.

Doors open at 7pm to allow people to look around the display staged by village businesses and organisations and the meeting will start at 7.30pm.

County councillor Peter Jones and district councillor Tony Ganly will be the speakers.

Questions and comments will be welcome, with light refreshments to follow.

Valerie Wright, the chairman of Sedlescombe Parish Council for the last 13 years, and Pat Martin, a parish councillor for 30 years, are both due to retire after the assembly.

CHURCH SHOP

BATTLE Methodist Church will run a fundraising shop in Battle until Saturday April 28.

Based in the old Battle Stationers shop on the Abbey Green, it will be open 9.30am-4.30pm.

All money raised will go directly towards the new Emmanuel Centre at Blackfriars.

Bric-a-brac and second-hand books will be on sale.

Gifts of items to re-sell will be gratefully received at the shop, but please no clothes or shoes, large furniture/electrical goods or non-working small electrical goods or small electrical goods with no attached three pin plug.

CRICKET SESSIONS

BATTLE Cricket Club will commence summer cricket coaching sessions from Wednesday April 18 and then every Wednesday thereafter through the school term.

All ages from seven-13 from 4-6pm and 14-16 years from 6-8pm.
