The steering group has launched a twitter page, @BattleAreaPlan4U, to try to generate feedback on how the town should develop following its fourth meeting in Netherfield on Friday, October 16.

All press releases and approved minutes of their meetings will be published on Battle Town Council’s website so residents can see what was discussed and what they have announced.

The group was founded to help keep the neighbourhood plan on track and assist in its conception.

The plan will help to shape the future development of Battle.

Members decided it was of paramount importance to demonstrate to the wider community how the exercise reached its goals and that expediency was not a factor.

It was also agreed only experienced and committed members should be part of their focus groups namely: housing and development; environment and countryside; community facilities and infrastructure; and local economy, transport and traffic.

Landowners will be contacted to find out whether their land matches the plans for housing and development in Battle.

This will help to establish where such proposals can go for the future benefit of the community.

Faustina Bayo from Action in Rural Sussex helped the group to formulate its plans to be more transparent which will be the key determinant of its neighbourhood plan.

The next meeting will be on November 11.
