BBC presenter hurt at Worthing Birdman '“ video and pictures

CBBC presenter Holly Walsh was taken to hospital after hitting the water at Worthing Birdman.

She was flying alongside veteran competitor Joel Hicks who dressed as Rambo for the event on Sunday, August 15.

The pair were raising money for Rainbows Childrens' Hospice and flew off the pier in a home-made helicopter.

Ms Walsh was put on a spinal board and taken to hospital suffering from a dislocated shoulder and broken arm.

Thanking well-wishers on her Twitter feed she said: "I couldn't have been looked after better by the organisers and medics."

Birdman flights were suspended for approximately 20 minutes during her rescue.

Flyers are not allowed to compete unless a safety boat is in place.
