On Saturday, August 27, everyone in the UK is invited to be part of ‘I Am Team GB’, a national event by The National Lottery and ITV supported by the British Olympic Association.

Residents are urged to go along to Bexhill Leisure Centre, Bexhill Leisure Pool or Rye Sport Centre, all operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Rother District Council, which will open their doors to offer free activities such as basketball, karate, badminton and swimming to name a few.

This fun day for all is a great way for everyone to get involved with a little physical activity in a relaxed environment, as well as giving people the opportunity to try out some of the much-loved sports, many of which they may be watching right now in the Olympic Games in Rio.

Ivan Horsfall Turner, managing director of Freedom Leisure, said: “Freedom Leisure is extremely proud to be supporting the ‘I Am Team GB Sports Day’, because not only are we incredibly proud of our team out in Rio, but also of the local communities our centres serve.

“This day is the opportunity for our centres to open their doors and welcome in local residents who may not have tried these activities before.”

ITV will be encouraging attendance by switching off transmission for an hour at 9.30am, across all seven of its TV channels.
