Beach still fears future may be Orange

MOBILE phone protesters are gearing up for another battle after they discovered Orange look set to apply for permission for another mast near their Shoreham Beach homes.

Beach Against Mobile Mast (BAMM) say a pre-planning application notice for a mast has been placed at the bottom of a lamp post in Brighton Road, Shoreham, near the site of an earlier application which was defeated in July.

BAMM was formed earlier this year to campaign against Orange's original plan to put a 10-metre mobile phone mast on the grass verge near the Dogs Trust home in Brighton Road, near Shoreham Beach. Adur District Council refused permission for it.

Now Orange wants to put a 12-metre mast in a similar location near a T-Mobile phone mast in Brighton Road.

Patricia Ghost from BAMM said: "We will be fighting this latest application. Objections to it have to be made in writing by tomorrow (Friday) to Rebecca D'arcy, Orange, Tudor House, The Royals, 55 Victoria Road, Acton, London, NW10 6ND."
