Defibrillators Public access defibrillators (PADs): Can be found in public spaces like your local shop,train station and thanks to Beckley Parish Council one will be at the village hall.

That briefcase-sized box on the wall contains a PAD. It’s there for anyone to use on someone in cardiac arrest.

They are simple and safe. The machine gives clear spoken instructions. Once in position, the defibrillator detects the heart’s rhythm. It won’t deliver a shock unless one is needed. Every second counts. After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillation reduces someone’s chance of survival by 10 per cent.

Rother Responders will be doing a free training session at the Beckley village hall on Thursday 25th June starting at 7pm It might be useful to get some idea of how many villagers are interested in attending this short training on how to use it? Email [email protected]

Beckley Farmers Market: Fantastic news for Beckley starting Saturday 13th June then on 2nd Saturday of the month held in Beckley village centre. Market opens at 10am-12am. Beckley School Needlecraft Club: Hope to knit a blanket to send to Nepal. Can you help? We need 20cm x 20cm knitted squares in any soft wool. The children are really inspired to do this but they are only a small group so any contributions would be great. Squares or donations of wool (preferably chunky) can be left at school.

Beckley Players: Are looking for new cast members for their next production in October.

Wild Woodland Club: a fantastic outdoor club for kids aged 6-11 years. On the last Saturday of every month –no matter what the weather is doing we’ll be found at our camp in the woods making things, learning woodland crafts, cooking on campfires, building dens, exploring and discovering the natural world around us, playing games and having lots of fun.The club runs from 10am until 1pm on the last Saturday of every month. Sessions cost £10 per child.

During school holidays we run additional full day sessions which usually run from 10am until 3pm and cost £20.

Sarah and Lucy run the club, which is based on the forest school ethos. They are fully qualified forest school leaders. I’ve ask Sarah about possibly doing a club for 2-5 years for health and safety reasons the children would need a parent accompanying them during the club she would need ten plus children if your interested please email her.

Village centre hire: Beckley Village Centre is available to hire either of the halls or committee room .
