Beckley

Happy new year to you all: I thought I would change the format of my weekly column. Bringing a personal touch to it. Being a full time mum of two young children and running a busy cleaning company i don’t have a lot of spare time but the wonders of the internet, Facebook and mobile phones I seem to keep my head above water! Having lived in Beckley 36 years I would like to think I qualify as local girl now! I have seen the village change so much over the years from losing the post office, butchers and a pub. On a positive note the primary school has grown with a fantastic ofsted report. Beckley playgroup has become a Pre school / nursery and has a successful weekly baby group with great Netmum feedback. So I would like welcome any new residents to Beckley and hope you will enjoy living in the village as much as I do. Should you have new neighbour’s please inform them of this column or if they use Facebook get them to join Beckley Village Society so they can get to know what happening in Beckley. Every week there is a list of some of the societies and groups in the village. If you want me to put something is this column, please email it’s here from you, Whether it’s an upcoming event, information on a society this is your column. If you are a member of any of the societies / groups in my list or your not on the list im trying to get them all up to date regarding contact details. Please email me [email protected]

Friends of Beckley Church: Tuesday 3rd February Coffee morning beckley village centre 10am all welcome

Dog fouling: There are dog bins placed around the village please dont allow your dogs to foul on the pavements. Children seem to always walk in it even if its pointed out to them!

Parked cars: Please do not mount the pavement when parking along main street. The pavement is for people to walk on, when pushing a pram you should never have to push your child either into the hedge or the main road to pass the vehicle. The local police have been told about this in the village and car owners can get fined.

Contact your Councillor: So that residents are aware they can contact our District Councillor Ian Jenkins via e mail. This will help the parish by giving you more immediate responses to questions or concerns. [email protected].
