Bedtime stories still as popular as ever

Pyjama-clad pupils returned to South Bersted CofE Primary School for some bedtime stories.

They were welcomed into the school by the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter and Doormouse for the special occasion.

Joining them for the evening with author Louise Arnold, Bognor Regis children's librarian Fran Punnett and school governors were their parents.

One of them, Julie Fletcher, said: "The evening was great fun. My daughter was very excited. It was lovely to have visitors reading stories."

Deputy school head Kirstie Buzzing commented: "We wanted to offer our parents and children a chance to escape from the daily grind and share in some great stories with people who are passionate about reading."

She added that research showed the reading bedtime stories with children had a huge influence on their learning by firing their imagination.
