Beginners' art on show

The course ran for 14 weeks for beginners to improvers, and covered drawing, oil pastels, watercolours and acrylic paints.

Course leader Kate Tugwell said: “Many of the students hadn’t done any art since their school days and have come back to it decades later at this class so the standard of artwork produced is surprisingly high.”

About 40 people signed onto the course (22 in the morning, 18 in the afternoon) and the final exhibition combined both classes with family and friends invited to the event.

Kate thought around 200 people came along to view the artwork.
