Bellringers chime in to help Bognor appeal

BELL-ringers have handed over a record amount from their Bognor Regis performances.

The musicians reached a best-ever donation of £1,500 from their highest number of appearances in at least a decade.

The results of their musical skills have benefited the Tuesday Club of West Sussex Crossroads.

Club organiser Rita Boxall has already laid-on some outings for its members who meet in North Bersted to give their partners some respite from caring.

Pauline Allsopp, the secretary of the 11-strong Bognor Regis Handbell Ringers, said: “We have a discussion about our donation every year and agreed the Tuesday Club was a good cause.

“We had a busy year last year with 31 appearances. As different people are seeing us, they are inviting us for other performances.”

The ringers have a patriotic programme for the Diamond Jubilee year. Money raised will go to St John Ambulance.
