Ben will be returning to Climping Beach, on Monday, May 6, to roll up his sleeves and clean the coastal stretch – and he is asking for residents to join him.

Ben is leading a national campaign to keep Britain’s beaches “barefoot friendly”. He will be joined in Climping by environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), which campaigns for cleaner, safer beaches.

The event, hosted by Ben but organised by Barefoot Wine, will take place between 10am and noon and then later, from 2pm until 4pm.

Ben, who enjoyed the beauty of the beach as a child, growing up in neighbouring Yapton, said: “I’ve been involved in environmental issues for years and I’m passionate about the outdoors. A seemingly clean beach can actually have huge amounts of litter and rubbish just hidden beneath the surface, it’s a bit like sweeping rubbish under the carpet. The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project makes tackling environmental issues fun and an activity that everyone can get involved with.”

Last year’s event saw three tonnes of litter collected from coastlines in the UK.
