Benefit cheat to pay it back

A BENEFITS cheat who falsely claimed over £10,000 has been ordered to pay the money back.

Robert Hussey, of Marina, Bexhill, failed to declare he was working during 2006 while he received incapacity benefit from the Department for Work and Pensions and housing and Council Tax benefit from Rother District Council.

Lewes Crown Court was told that Hussey, 49, had been working at Somerfields, Hastings Direct and Galleon Care Homes.

Hussey was sentenced to a 180 hour community punishment order and ordered to pay 250 in costs as well as having to repay the overpayment in full.

He had already pleaded guilty to the charges at Brighton Crown Court in September.
