Bersted freezes its tax

A FREEZE in its share of council tax has been agreed for the coming year by Bersted Parish Council.

Its members voted unanimously to set the same precept from April of £106,543.

Fiona Dobbs, the council’s clerk, said savings and extra income had been identified to allow the freeze to be put forward.

Cllr Simon McDougall, the council’s vice-chairman, said: “This is a very good budget.

“It’s balanced and there is no increase for our residents. That is well and truly deserved in the current economic climate which is not getting any better.”
