Exercise for the mind and body is available for everyone at a new centre in Bognor Regis.

The centre will also be home to three Bognor health trainers. They will be available to offer information and advice about healthy living and wellbeing.

Robin Brown, who is in charge of Arun District Council's housing and community care services, said he hoped the centre would encourage people to learn.

"It is a great asset for Bognor and I strongly encourage residents to visit and see the vast number of opportunities that are available for people to brush up on existing skills or learn new ones," he said.

The centre is on the same Durlston Drive site as Bersted Green Court extended care housing scheme. It occupies premises transformed from a kitchen and canteen.

A 64,000 grant to carry out the work was given by the Learning and Skills Council.

The district council donated the premises rent free. The Council for Voluntary Service Arunwide is acting as the booking agent and will help management group from the community to be formed to oversee the centre.
